Loose Stock

I had a gunsmith install a Pachmayr Decelerator on the synthetic stock of my 870 Police Magnum.

After firing several hundred rounds subsequent to the above installation, I notice a looseness in the fit of the stock: When I hold the receiver with the left hand and the stock with the right hand, I can rotate the stock back and forth on its axis - just a little bit.

I assume the stock needs to be tightened, but don't see how that can be done without destroying the bond of the Pachmayr Decelerator to the stock.

What is the likely prognosis if the stock is not tightened? The gunsmith is in another state and I don't want to mess with the bonding of the Pachmayr Decelerator unless/until there is no other option but to remove it to get to whatever needs tightening.

The factory synthetic stocks that I've seen use screws to secure the recoil pad. There is no "bonding" of which I'm aware.
You should be able to shove a large phillips head screw driver through those small holes in the pad and unscrew that pad.
Then an even larger flat screw driver will be needed to tighten the stock. About the only thing that I could see a smith might do for you is "fit" the pad.
Of course I could be worng here but why do you think it is bonded? Do you see glue or something?

Use your fingers to massage the pad, and you will find two slits where the screws went in. Poke a #2 Phillips screwdriver blade in paste wax to lubricate it, then work it into each slit and loosen the screws alternately until you have the pad off the gun. Tighten the stock bolt, reassemble the pad to the butt (remembering to wax the screwdriver blade), and you are good to go. Don't leave the stock loose. It will continue to get worse and could break.
