Loose scope rings help

I have a synthentic remington 700 ADL 30-06 with a Leupold 3-9 vari-x II scope and Leupold rings and base. After firing 20 rounds I checked the screws and all where tight enough where they wouldn't budge.

After cleaning the gun, firing 6 rounds, taking it on a long car ride, and hunting all day with it I checked the screws again. This time I was able to get the screws on the front ring to tighten 1/3 of a complete turn before they where snug again. Is it expectable for the screws to loosen a little after only firing six rounds? Everything was bought new so nothing should be worn

Try Absolom's idea, since that's a "follow the directions" type of deal.

If you still have a problem, use a wee tad of the "light duty" Loctite.

Thinking back, I was able to tighten the screws more like 1/5-1/6 of a full turn. Is that still enough for concern? I plan on hunting with this rifle Monday.

I had those suckers cranked down pretty tight. I am not sure if the screws had oil applied to them before being installed. I might try the loctite down the road, but I don't have time to before deer season comes in.

Thanks for the help all
