Loose ejector on Baer.

I have a Les baer Concept 3 and noticed that the ejector was loose.I can move it up and down in the back.I did not put a feeler gauge under it but it is noticeable. Is this common on 1911s?Does it need to be fixed or can I let it go?

If you don't get it fixed (At Les Baer's expense), you will find that the gun will suffer reliability problems until you do have it fixed.

Screw sending guns back to the factory--generally takes forever (in most cases)......i'd just knock out the small pin that holds it in---take it out---and tap the small studs that hold it in with a hammer or punch to swell them up a little and reinstall.....Dick

Just remember Les does not warrantee any modifications he does not do. I would not let anyone but Les work on my Baer's for that reason. So you are without the gun for a few weeks, Baer will make it right.

Sorry you had the problem by the way.

Tightening the ejector is not a modification but a minor repair. The cheapest and fastest thing to do is to do it yourself--no big deal or take it to a local smith and in a few minutes and for a few bucks it's fixed. Baer is not nutty about simple repairs and tightening the ejector will NOT void the warranty.

But why should he have it repaired at his expense? I will grant you that guns need wear in, maybe custum guns moreso. For the kind of money a Les Baer costs, having a loose ejector is ridiculous. Is that a reflection of the hand built quality you are paying for?

Croyance,

I agree in theory. But, why spend $40 and up to ship a gun back for a $20 (at most) repair (and then wait a few weeks). I'm not interested in making a point on my dollar.
I also agree that semi-custom guns (all guns for that matter) should be QC'd better at the factory.
