Loose action on SxS

I have a Crescent Peerless SxS 12ga that I recently purchased. When I put it together the first time it had a nice tight action. Put a few rounds through it and now the lock-up has a wobble to it. Is there any way to mend this, without getting a pro smith involved (= sinking more into it than it is worth)?

Also, would anyone have schematics or a parts diagram of this model?

Sounds like you loosened up a peened action. Pretty common: someone takes a sloppy old shotgun, peens the hinge to tighten it up, then sells it. After a few shots, it's back to sloppy again. Oh, well! At least you know who not to buy a shotgun from next time!

In order to properly repair the shotgun so this does not happen again, you would need to get it to a smith and have the old hinge pressed out, the hinge reamed, and the hinge pin replaced with an oversized pin. This is not a cheap fix, but will return the shotgun to full service.

No disrespect, but you already sank more than it's worth into a Crescent, by buying it.

They were made as cheaply as possible, and weren't all that good when they were new - over 70 years ago.

If it were mine, I would either sell it, or disable it to make into a wallhanger.
