Looks like my first revolver will be a .44...

...Whenever I get it, that is. It'll probably be this summer. I just bought a Winchester Trapper in .44 Mag, and a revolver in the same cartridge would be convenient.

Any suggestions? I'd prever a double action, barrel no longer than 6". Preferably 4".

Hell, maybe I'll splurge and get a Dan Wesson...

A pre agreement S&W model 629 with a 4 inch pipe would be a good choice. Also check out the Ruger Redhawk with the 5.5 inch tube. Both are real work horses and will give good service.

No doubt about it, grab a Dan Wesson.
Would recommend a Model 44/744 with 6" barrel and cut back underlug shroud. If you want a monster try a 445/7445 to handle .44 Special, .44 Mag., and .445 SuperMag. Again if the barrel is 6 inches or longer would recommend the cut back underlug for better balance.

Why not a Ruger Vaquero Single Action?

I think it would look good in combination with your Trapper!
