Looks like I own a Springfield now

Darn,

I knew I should have bought one when I first heard about them.

I went to a local shop a few months ago and was astonished when I saw they were already over $400. I was definately turned off by the price.

Yup...i'm a "new" springfield owner too apparently...it's funny how my (former) HS has just gone up in value in a lot of handgun owners minds because it has the Springfield name attached to it...now the price tag will be over 5 bills (after tax) and NOW it will be worth a look...somebody...somewhere...gave Glock a try when they first came out too...and I bet they bought it for a song! I can't blame a person for waiting for proven results...who wants to end up with a POS! but after my buddy bought one...and couldn't stop telling me how great it was...I had to take the plunge...now...i'm glad I did...it's a great shooter.
Tony.
:D

Holy cow! Its a Glockenteeneleven! At least somebody thought of the idea...

Springfield XD

Enhanced safety features include a grip safety, USA trigger safety, and a firing pin block (drop safety). The grip safety requires gripping of the pistol before the trigger mechanism moves into an activated position. The unique XD design also prevents the slide from unlocking until the grip safety is depressed. The muzzle protector fixed guide rod system blocks slide movement and protects the muzzle from damage in case the pistol is dropped on the muzzle. The Ultra Safety Assurance (USA) trigger safety blocks the firing pin/striker until the trigger is fully depressed. A loaded chamber indicator and cocked firing pin status indicator all add to the XD's unrivaled safety features.

Springfield made a wise decision to buy this great gun. The majority of posts on this forum about the gun were positive. I hope springfield doesn't over charge for it. How much is springfield charging for it?

Parabellum,
The word on the street claims a suggested retail price of $489, with a dealer cost of around $400. I paid $269 for mine.

Here's the ironic thing. Due to the HS2000 label, and the bargain price, many snubbed this pistol as "Croatian Junk". Now that it sports the Springfield Logo, and is double the price, many who refused to even look at it before, will now consider it.

Just like any other industry, image is everything. Well, you can have your image and high prices. I will continue to seek out well made, bargain priced firearms like The HS2K, TZ-99, Taurus, Mak, IMI Baby Eagle, FM & FEG HPs, Argus 94s, etc. Just wished I had the chance to get my hands on the .357 Sig version before the Springfield deal put the price through the roof.

Wow, my little $269 pistol just increased in value. If I see another at the gun show I may have to buy it.....
