It looks like a ruby but just says automatic pistol and made in Spain on the side, it also has what looks to be cat with a long tail and a flag with a cross through it. Also it has a P.V. on the frame beside the flag. The cat is on both the slide and the frame. Bought it back in the 70's and always wondered what it was.Have shot it several times and it shots good . Any info wouldbe great.
Thanks Keith

I am not trying to be funny when I say that you have an automatic pistol made in Spain; I can't tell you much more. The marks sound like Spanish proof marks (the "cat" is supposed to be a lion). It is not uncommon for those guns to have no maker's name and no other information. They were imported into the U.S. in the 1920's and 1930's, along with tons of cheap revolvers, most of them imitations of the S&W design. Most were made of cast iron, though some of the pistols were made of steel.

They sold at low cost, and most have either broken or blown up by this time.

If yours shoots OK, fine, but if it breaks, be aware that there are no parts available and no gunsmith will touch it because of the poor quality and potential liability problems.
