Looking to possibly trade up on my 1911 Nitron

open question for 1911 owners and shooters

i am considering trading up from my basic sig 1911 nitron non-railed tacpac setup into something a bit more at the upper end of the mid-range price range for 1911's (read: sub-$1300 street price) and am open to used or new with the following attributes

5"
.45ACP
single stack
rail
ambi-safety
Novak cut slide for sights
combat night sights (no target sights)
stainless, brushed, stainless, nickel, or otherwise coated frame
front and back strap checkering (metal mainspring housing)
no plastic parts
barrel bushing
full length guide rod
magwell (not huge, not to protrude from the grip in width in any way)
railed model fits into SERPA level2 non-railed system

open to all suggestions. looking to make the trade up sometime before the end of the year. i'm considering the following:

Sig 1911 5" Nickel Rail http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/ViewItem.aspx?Item=458361931
Sig 1911 Emperor Scorpion http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/ViewItem.aspx?Item=458668941

Used or new doesn't matter to me. Scandium alloy or aluminum alloy or steel frame. Preference for steel due to likely high round count, but the others aren't deal breakers. Prefer a two-tone setup, with controls darker than the pistols main finish. No polished finished. Matte or satin at most. Trying to compile a list to research and decide.

I will use this gun primarily in a Blackhawk Level 2 SERPA equipped thigh rig on run and guns in the desert. It will only make range trips when setting up a course is not feasible for time reasons.

The Dan Wesson Specialist Black might fit the bill if you can find a used one on GB. The less expensive stainless version appears to be out of production, but some might still be available on GB. If that doesn't work, then I would look at STI. An STI 1911 (perhaps the Duty One 5 for you) will be of significantly higher quality than any SIG Sauer 1911 and, in my opinion, second only to Dan Wesson's offerings in quality among makers of production 1911s. Check the STI website and see if something lines up well enough with what you want.

So what is your question, if any???

Choice would be a personal decision. Personally I like the E.S. looks better, otherwise they are the same.

Stay safe and shoot straight.

my question is, do you know of any manufacturers or models that would meet all of the criteria? STI has been mentioned. I'm sure there are others but i don't have time to personally research every 1911 makers entire product line, so i'm farming for suggestions on manufacturers and models to look into further.

the Dan Wesson Specialist in SS is indeed not hard to find on GB NIB for $1300-1400. The STI is in the same range. adding in shipping and transfer puts me a considerable amount higher than i was hoping to go. i did state willing to go to $1300, but that was an utmost cap. both of these are just beyond reach. neither of them are terribly attractive, either.

Springfield MC Operator or lightweight operator might fit your budget, if you can locate one.
May also look into Colt combat elite, if you like the two-tone look.
For non railed, take a look a the TRP series from Springfield.

I should have clarified on the two tone look. I am looking for a solid upper and lower with differential colored controls. I can't stand the blued slide and stainless frame or reversed look. Drives me nuts.

There are no "production" pistols in your price range with a magwell funnel that doesn't add any bulk; they're all add-on parts that make the gun 1/4" longer.
Adding a cut-and-weld or cut-and-screw magwell to a gun will cost $200-$300, so you have to ask how important it is? Practice your reloads, and it won't be an issue.
Check out the Colt Rail Gun. I don't think it has a FLGR, but it's easily added if it's something you want. It's made in all stainless, and in reverse two-tone with the bare stainless upper and complete lower in black Cerakote.

A little too late but this one would have been nice.... Sold for $1165 shipped
