Hey guys I tried searching and searching and came up with little.

Here is what Im looking for:

Lightest weight
12 ga
Semi-Auto
Single Barrel
28" barrel

Benelli makes a lot of nice guys but their Ultra Light only goes up to 26" so can anyone tell me who makes a Ultra light in a 28" ???

Thanks!

I just saw the Benelli Vinci ... its 28" and 6.8lbs ... so far the lightest I have seen. Any thoughts on that one?

Weatherby SA08. semi auto, great reviews, $469 at wally world and 6.4 pounds. I am on the fence about picking it up (money issue). I handled it in wally world and I like it alot. Something to check out before you make your decision

Zippys right, Barrels will all weigh the same pretty much same goes for the stock, its the action that they lighten and therefore adds a lot of tip weight. The SBEII and Vinchi have the the best balence of any semi gun. Beretta makes a 26" barreled one thats nice also. Me personally I like my 11-87 and 1100 just because the extra weight gives me better balence on my shoulder

I vote for the Franchi AL 48 mentioned earlier.

I have one in 20 guage and it is a superb bird gun....... I haven't weighed it in a long long time but the old memory says it is somewhere around 6 lbs.

I think the lightest guns you'll find will be the inertia guns - in a synthetic or carbon fibre stock.... so Benelli would be my vote ......and they have a number of models with 28" barrels that are around 7.2 lbs .....

If you want to go real light - Benelli also makes a 20ga Super Sport model with a 28" barrel - at 6.3 lbs making it a great kids or ladies shotgun.

You didn't say why you wanted a light gun ....what's the motivation ??

By the way ( you won't find any semi-autos with more than a single barrel ) ...;)

The balance point is between your hands on my Benelli Super Sports ... so they are not nose heavy ...

I'm surprised to see the Maxus, for a gas gun, is so light ...and in 3" chamber its an oz lighter ....

( the Browning Silver series - is almost a pound heavier / and it has an alloy receiver ...) ...

Nice Catch -- DeerHunter....

Big Jim

The 3.5 inch and the 3 inch are the same weight actually with the 28 inch barrel. when you drop down the 26 in barrel is when you drop the extra 1oz.

Even for a light gun it really eats up the recoil. I put 12 shots of 3in #2 Black Cloud through it the other day like it was nothing. I have also put 125 target loads through it shooting the wobble trap field (twice). I was surprised as even shooting target loads out of my 870 (125) would have made my shoulder hang, but not with the Maxus.

My eyes are old man ...and obviously I can't read ....

Good to hear you like the Maxus ..... the only semi-autos I have right now are the Benelli Super Sport models in 12ga and 20ga ....and they've been very soft shooting guns too... I'm not much of a hunter anymore ...so if I go to another semi-auto it'll be a target gun ....maybe the Beretta UGB ...just because its something different....

I have a completely rebuilt shoulder - rotator cuff and bone spurs / including the bicep - where they had to cut it - and reattach it to my arm bone ( mid length ) ...and its been a chore to shoot this winter ../ so I've been shooting my 20ga and 28ga O/U's a lot more ...primarily because they're lighter and easier to swing ... I just can't throw a 10 lb gun around anymore ... but I hate picking up my hulls on a sporting or skeet field from the semi-autos ... ( and I can't let a 28ga hull hit the ground hardly ....or 3 old guys will hurt themselves trying to reach for it ....) ....

I was young and stupid - and played football ( and not big time either) ...and now I'm paying the price .....

On days where my shoulder and arm are real bad / I just shoot the 28ga ....

Even my worst days are Great !! ....there are people out there with real challenges ...I'm just whining ...

BigJim, It sounds like you need to visit Dr. Andrews and Andrew's Sports Medicine in Birmingham, AL. He is absolutely the very best Ortho Man on this globe. His protege Dr. Cain is the best with knees. I am now walking like and feel like a new man after my two knee replacements by Dr. Cain. You will see Dr. Cain on side lines of every University of Alabama football game.

I have lived with pain for so many years and now there is none. I feel for you Man since I know you spend a lot of time in agony.
