Looking for some info on .22 pistol grip sizes

I'm going to be be buying a .22 pistol for my daughter to start training with and am hoping some of you might be able to tell me of the 3 contenders which one has the shortest trigger reach or smallest grip for her little hand. She's 11 and and a little thing. I'm basically deciding between the Walther P22, the Sig Mosquito, and the Ruger SR 22. Thanks.

I don't know about the others but I got me son a SR22 and he has tiny hands he was 11 when he started (4 foot nothing weights 75 lbs soaking wet) and it fits him well. It came with a little and a big grip so he can grow into it. I am a fan of it but again I don't know of the others you mentioned. Except I did not like the mag release on the Walter the reason I went with the Ruger

That's great info thanks. I've been leaning toward the SR 22 actually so this is good to know. Our kids sound about the same size and I also like the idea of her being able to grow a bit with the gun too. Any idea if there is any good quality holsters and mag carriers avail for it?

Of those I'd also suggest the SR-22, but I must say, the Browning 1911-22 would likely be a perfect fit. Good luck with your training.

I have a galko holster and mag pouches that my son uses for IPSC shoots (not officially but the guys in our group let him shoot and he is even starting to beat a few of the guys). The holster is (was) for my 1911 and the mag pouches are generic mag pouches. I like it because when he does move up to a center fire weapon all the "stuff" is in the same place. Mag release, full length slide etc...

The only down side was that I had to "break in" the weapon. I got a steel guide rod and ran mini mag or stinger rounds for the first 500+ rounds (until the springs softened up a bit) but now it runs flawlessly.

My daughter when 9.5 when I started with her and for Christmas I got her the SR-22. But funny how it has worked out... Her pride of ownership is VERY high but... she doesn't shoot it much (or often or well) when we go shooting.

Two reasons: it is so light that it (seemingly) requires firm, adult kind of strength/hold or it simply will not run properly. It feeds, fires and ejects well in my hands, but not in her hands.

The other obvious problem is that she, more than anyone, struggles with a heavy or even average trigger. So when we are shooting, she has FAR more success with my better/older .22 pistols... with MUCH better single action trigger breaks. My '52 Colt Challenger (Woodsman variant) is her favorite and a close runner-up is my Sig Trailside. She also very much enjoyed the trigger on my S&W 2206, but that is a 6" and all stainless pistol, so it's a bit heavy and gangly for her.

I realize that money/price is typically a part of the project. But if you have wiggle room, I would skip ALL of the guns you've considered. If it has to be new production, I would consider a 22/45, maybe the LITE model, and then put some Volquartsen parts in it to make the trigger normal... not new 2015 "normal" (which is heavy and horrendous.)
