Looking for slug advice.

Shotgunners:
I have a rifled barrel for my REM 1100. I'm shooting regular slugs cause I'm fearful of the cost of sabots. If I switch over to sabots is there any advice I should heed so I won't spend an arm and a leg just sighting it in?

Brenneke KO slugs can be used in either a smoothbore or rifled barrel. Been doing it for years. Just bought some at Dick's for about $5.95 a box of 5.

So much depends on where you hunt and the likelihood of getting shots to 200 yards. There are now many good brands of saboted slugs on the market but be careful not to buy first generation saboted slugs as the slugs sometimes momentarily stick to the sabots resulting in a flier.

To reduce sighting in cost, and assuming you have a scope, do this: fire one careful round off the bench. You must be able to call your shot--know where it went. Sandbag the shotgun in place with the crosshairs exactly where you aimed. Now, adjust the crosshairs within the scope to where the slug impacted, then fire another aimed shot. Chances are, you slug will go where you aimed. Done correctly, you can sight in with just two rounds fired.
