Looking for one rifle

Plan on buying a 12 gauge, pump shotgun to go w my auto pistols.

Also looking for a rifle to round out the pistols and shotgun.

What caliber should I choose and what model?

I am looking at large capacity magazine fed .223/7.62x39 and .308 rifles.

I don't want to spend more than $500-$600.

I don't need a pistol grip.

I am not looking to use optics and would like a semi-auto.

Suggestions please.

Saiga rifles. They make 7.62x39mm and .308 AK's, and they DO NOT all have "Pistol stocks", ala most AK's. Their aftermarket is a decent size, and can support up to 30 round mags, in fact I believe in the 7.62x39mm they are/can be compatible with the large-capacity AK drum magazines. Accuracy is decent, and I assume you are not looking for DMR (designated marksman rifle) accuracy, something useful.
Lastly, used I believe they're right in your price range, if not brand new on a serious deal. Anything else that's semi-auto, worth-your-while, and aforementioned calibers is going to be above $500-600, unless you score a deal on a used AR of sorts.

AR15 in 5.56, two of my LGS's are selling new "kits", a complete upper and a lower kit for $599 OTD. Nice hobby gun quality, good forged up/lwr (SA) with commercial RE and BCG. 4140 chrome barrel and all Magpul MOE furniture.

In that price range if you want a semi-auto I'd get a Saiga. There aren't a lot of high capacity bolt action guns. There are some I guess but there are a lot more semi-autos.

You should be able to get an AK47 for that price. That should at least meet your price range and specification for large capacity magazine.
