Looking to reload 357 mag. Is there any difference between a 38 special bullet and a 357 mag if they are the same number of grains and the same diameter.

Some bullets for .38 Special are to long for .357 Magnum, I know this because
I just finished pulling 60+ bullets out of my .357 Magnum because the bullet it
self was to long and would not chamber...silly me. But in general, yes, they are the same diameter.

Too bad the original cartridge caliber was 35 but it was named by its case diameter. Both 38 Spcl and 357 Mag are often called 38 caliber but like the 9mm Luger, they're all 35 caliber based on the original definition of "caliber." Caliber meant bore diameter in hundredths of an inch.

You loaded 60+ rounds without checking for fit?
You can, since you are working up the load, start with the crimp over the start of the ogive if the bullets are too long.

Most all of the common readily available bullets are interchangeable between 38 Special and 357 Magnum.

Generally, lead bullets will be used more frequently in 38 Special; and jacketed bullets will be used more frequently in 357 Magnum. But you'll see plenty of either in both cartridges. And then there's plated bullets and you'll see them used pretty evenly between the two.

Jacketed and plated bullets usually have a diameter of .357.
Lead bullets will usually have a diameter of .358.

The larger diameter for lead bullets is just so they "seal" better going down the barrel and is really nothing to be of concern. It's just something that is good to know.
