Looking for info on old .22 Revolver

My father-in-law recieved a .22 revolver from his wife, and recently asked me to see if anything can be done to fix it and find out more about it. She said she purchased it new in the early 70s.

It is an Iver Johnsons .22 revolver. On one side it says that it was made in Fitchburg Mass. USA, and the other side simply has "K54104". The is an owl on the dark plastic grips.

The lever that advances the cylinder is worn to the point that it no longer will advance it without help. The lock up at the bottom of the cylinder also seems to hold the cylinder very loosely.

I am looking for two things. First, for more info about the gun, as well as anyplace to look for more info. Second, for ideas on fixing the gun and what to do with it.
Thanks,
Kiffster

Well, Iver Johnson is long gone, so parts may be a bit of a problem for you. Iver Johnson's big claim to fame was manufacturing a large number of decent M1 Carbine copies for a great many years. You may wish to post this across to the Smithy forum and see what those folks can offer for you.

Hello Kiffster:

I looked in the Numrich Arms catalog for what they have in Iver Johnsons revolvers. Can you give a little more detail like...is it a break-top (tip up type} or cylinder swing out type, or is it a single action western type with a loading gate on the frame? How long is the barrel? What kind of shape is the
bottom of the grips...birds head or flat.

That K number sounds like a serial number, not a model number.

Iver Johnson made a whole lot of so-so revolvers. At one time, they were one of the better makers, but went downhill as they tried to cheapen the product. While some models have a little collector value if in near perfect condition, most sell for $100 or less. In all honesty, the gun is probably not worth fixing, but you might try for a trade-in on something better.
