Looking for ideas on B/H Grips

I picked up a Ruger Blackhawk .45LC/.45ACP a few months ago. I am not really impressed with the black plastic grips. Can anyone post pictures of replaced grips on their BH? I really don't want to spend a bunch of money on grips and then decide I don't like them. Mine is blued not stainless.
Thanks, -C-Man-

While these are Super Blackhawks mostly, here's a sampling of various grips:

These are vermilion, rosewood, and walnut.

And, top row, left is stag, next is Macasgar ebony.

I bought these some time ago for my .45 Blackhawk. They are a laminate and were made by the Lett Co. They made many of Ruger's OEM grips. Sadly, they are now out of business.

But, Altamont now makes some very nice panels for the Ruger BH. Check them out at www.altamontco.com

Like you, I wasn't very fond of the black plastic grips on my new flat top. Some call them "cheese graters."

I decided to try the classic panel "super" rosewood laminates from Altamont. They are very reasonably priced and I have been happy with them.

Try, "Exotic Grips by Esmeralda" . She creates some real beauties.

mine is early, & custom before they started making them... & I also didn't like the smooth black plastic that I bought off E-Bay... I found these custom checkered buffalo horn grips at the local SASS regional shoot... sorry, I don't know who made them... a gun smith had them for sale on his table...

Make your own...

Spalted Maple from my firewood pile:

I have really considered that. I think a mesquite set of grips would be awesome. There is plenty around here. Where did you get the threaded inserts?

Also... I have always loved the look of stag grips. I would love to have a set on my Single Six.
Thanks, C-Man

Those "scraps from your firewood pile" on the Super Blackhawk could very well pass for bone, at least from the photo.

Another vote for these folks and have always been pleased with their pricing and quality. I first found out about these folks, right here in this forum. Right off I ordered three sets for different models and all were super .... ;)

These Eagle grips were on this .45acp/.45lc Blackhawk but I shifted them over to my .45acp/.45lc Vaquero. The original walnut is back on my Blackhawk.

I'm bad... I saw the B/H in the title of the thread, & immediately thought Birds Head...

I recently bought these off E-Bay, they look pretty nice...
