Looking for gun to start league Shooting.

I have a Glock 17C 9mm but I had a chance to shoot a Kimber Classic Custom Target 1911 .45ACP and it was very smooth and the trigger felt a million times better then my Glock. (also the recoil felt less, strange since it is a larger round...)

Only problem I have run into is that Kimbers seem to be very expensive. What are some of the guns that you would recommend for this type of tagret competition?
Should I just bite the bullet and spend the $800-$1100 on a kimber? Are their other guns that compare for accuracy? Im still fairly new to this so any help would be great!

BTW, Before I shot the .45 I was thinking about getting a .22lr target gun because of the cheap ammo but this league doesnt allow rimfire weapons.

Kimbers

I recently bought a Kimber Custom Classic fullsize which is an excellent base to begin to build and modify a custom gun. I paid 650 out the door for my brand new kimber. Email me if you need help finding some better deals on Kimbers.

The .22 LR is a good idea even if you can't use it for league shooting. It is much better for plinking. Also, if you find yourself developing a flinch time with a .22 LR can cure it.

The best gun I've got for Bullseye and PPC is a SW 686 revolver (6" barrel). Put a red dot scope (Ultra Dot) on it if you want to shoot in the Open class, or leave the iron sights on it if you want to shoot in the Stock class. For accuracy, it will smoke just about any auto ever made and you can shoot reload .38 ammo which is real cheap. I own ten handguns (today) including a match grade 1911 and the 686 is the only one I shoot bullseye with.;)
