Looking for gun club in Atlanta GA.

I am looking to join a gun club in Atlanta GA. Preferably a club on the Northwest side of the city. Anyone know of any good clubs around Marietta/Kennesaw?
Thanks

Ya know what.. I have no idea.

Might want to check out Hot Shots over at the corner or Austell and Windy Hill. They might have some information.

River Bend Gun Club is north of you between Tate and Dawsonville. The only other club I know of is South River Gun Club which is south of Conyers.

Are you looking for specific activities or just a good place to shoot?

I am not looking for any specific activities. I just need a place around here to shoot. It would be nice if I could join a club near here that actually gives me a chance to shoot pistols AND shotguns. I believe Hotshots doesn't allow shotguns on their range. Anyways, I am not picky, I just need a place to shoot....

Wolf Creek has (had) good trap/skeet/sporting clays. Not sure if they have handgun/rifle bays. There is another indoor shooting place in Douglasville (or at least as of a few years back).

There's a nice indoor range
just south of Piedmont Road, on Highway 5 - Ed's Gun & Tackle, 2727 Canton Rd. NE
(770) 425-8461.
Otherwise the best and most complete gun club that is reasonably close is Riverbend.
They have a web site at http://www.rbgc.org/

Lightsped,

Check with the Georgia Sport Shooting Association on the web at http://www.gssa.com/ .

Also, the old Wolf Creek Olympic shooting range (west-southwest of Atlanta near Camp Creek Parkway) has a trap & skeet range.

Other shooting ranges (for pistols, not shotguns):
http://www.edsguns.com/
http://www.wolfcreek-gun.com/ (not related to the Olympic range)

The state of Georgia also runs Wildlife Management Areas, several of which have outdoor ranges (shotguns allowed, and I've seen a .50 rifle there as well): http://www.ganet.org/dnr/wild/game_mgmt/wma/wmadirections.html

I've been to Hotshots and Wolfcreek, and they are good places. I've recently started going to a great outdoor range about 30+ miles from my place called Advanced Bullets. Joe's the one who introduced me to that range. It's amazing how much more casual and friendly out-door ranges seem to be.

I used to go to Pannell's and Ed's to shoot, but they cost a fortune and one guy at Pannell's really got under my skin. But there a PLENTY of ranges in the Marietta / Kennesaw area. Look in the phonebook; they list quite a few.

Lightsped,

If you just want a good place to shoot I would like to recommend Advanced Bullets in Temple. It's a small outdoor range that has target stands at 25 feet, 25 yards, 50 yards and 100 yards. They also have shotgun shooting available from a variety of clay launchers. No skeet field but there are plans to dig out a trap field soon. Once a month they have a sporting clays match that is a lot of fun.

Range fees are very reasonable. $4 an hour to use the range or $2 an hour if you are a member. An annual membership costs $35 and also gets you a discount on items sold in the shop (not firearms but most everything else).

No, I don't work there but I probably should with as much time as I spend up there. :) It's a bit of a drive to get out here for you, but I think you would like it a lot better than the indoor ranges available closer to you.

If you'd like to try it out sometime after the 11th of next month let me know and I'll try to meet you there. I'm there most every Saturday. The next sporting clays match is October 15th.

Lightsped, I live in Acworth and am a member of the Riverbend Gun Club. If you're interested in a club that has EXCELLENT facilities for handgun, rifle and shotgun, you should check Riverbend out. It's a 45 minute drive, but worth the time. Gun ranges closer to home are indoor and usually handgun only. Stay away from Ed's Gun and Tackle...HotShots is great for a long lunchbreak....Riverbend has a website at the following URL: http://www.rbgc.org/ if you want a little more info....Dan in GA

Thanks for all of the replies. Today a few co-workers and I are planning to go to HotShots, but I am going to really really consider going to the Riverbend range since it comes highly recommended from you all, and I will be able to use my new Mossberg 590A1 there as well. The Advanced Bullets place sounds interesting as well with good prices. :)
Thanks.
