Looking for feedback regarding Taurus PT145

I am considering buying a Taurus PT145. This would be my first Taurus semiauto. Currently I do have two Taurus 38 snubbies. One in Total Titanium, and one in Stainless. I have been 100% pleased with both of them.

Anyways, does anyone own or have any experiences with the PT145?

I did a search for "145" and found some responces.

The concensus seems to be that it has a gritty, heavy trigger and heavy recoil.

How is the job thing going?

Lightsped,

Since no one seems to have any impressions on the PT145 I'll tell you about the PT111 I used to have which is very similar only chambered for the 9mm.

Worst thing I've ever lost money on. Accuracy was OK but the trigger sucks (heavy, gritty) and it broke after only a few hundred rounds requiring a send back to Taurus. To their credit, they did fix it on a timely basis but I lost all confidence in the pistol. I traded it away at a local gun show.

Personally, I would have a hard time recommending this pistol based on my experience with the 9mm version.

On the other hand, Taurus makes a great semi-auto in the PT92 series. That one I can recommend all day long. :D

I can agree with Joe on the PT111 - I also had one. Worst trigger I've ever felt. Only trigger I've ever seen get WORSE as the gun broke in. I failed to get any decent accuracy out of it due to the atrocity of the trigger. Thus, I'd avoid that whole series of pistols.

Croyance, the job thing is not going good at all. I have sent tons of resumes and talked to tons of Job Placement Agencies, and there are simply no Computer/IT jobs out there. I really need to get out of the IT industry. I have made some attempts at local Law Enformcement, and went in for some of their entrance exams. We'll see what happens. In the mean time, I am certainly open for any job leads in OR out of the IT industry. I can pretty much do anything.

As for the PT145. Joe, Did the trigger simply break off? Since the PT145 just came out, I was hoping some of the "bugs" might have been worked out.......

What caught my eye regarding the PT145 was that it is such a small gun and can hold 10+1 of 45, and the fact that I have been 100% satisfied with my Taurus wheel guns......

Lightsped,

The trigger did not break off on my PT111. What happened was that the firing pin bushing (my term for it, I don't know what Taurus calls it) split in half. When the trigger is pulled it engages this bushing by pushing on the bottom of it. It pushes it back so far and them cams down to release the bushing/firing pin assembly. When mine broke it locked up the firing pin good. When I pulled the trigger the whole slide went back.

The main reason I bought the PT111 was because of my very positive experience with their model 66 revolver and PT92 pistol. Both have been exceptional firearms and I expected the same from the 111. Needless to say, I was quite disappointed.

If you want to make the drive, I understand the Carroll County Sheriff Department is hiring. Ask for Sheriff Langley and tell him I sent you. ;)
