looking for comments on G26

I went to Mandall's in Scottsdale, AZ today looking for a holster for my HK, but I ended up checking out the guns as well. Imagine that :). Anyway, I was looking at the selection of small, relatively pocket-sized guns in "normal" caliber. I checked out the Kahr MK9, Taurus ?, and the G26. The Kahr seemed very well made, and the trigger is great, but it's too heavy in weight and price. The Glock seemed about the right compromise on weight, simplicity, and size.

Any good or bad comments on the G26?

Hello crusierman, I own a G-27; same as the
G26 except for caliber difference. I use it
as my primary "off-duty" concealed carry
weapon. I bought mine back in 96; before
the price's shot up out of sight!!! I like
the G-27 very much, as it is accurate enough
for defensive work. :)

I got a used G26 in november and it's been the best little 9mm I've ever shot. I have put around a thousand rounds through it so far and it works great. I don't leave home without it, in fact I don't leave a room without it.
It seems pretty chunky when you look at it but it conceals very well and is comfortable to carry too. Also is more accurate than my G19 with the bonus of being smaller too.
I don't think you can go wrong with a G26 or any of the other micro glocks.

Ditto on the G26.
I carry one in an Aker Pocket Express in
the front pocket of my Dockers. It simply
disappears. It is an excellent combat piece.

I just purchased one about two weeks ago and I love it. I too looked at all the sub compact nines and the glock appealed to me the most(I own a G17 as well). I shoot slightly to the left with it and as I understand this is a common problem with the smaller glocks, shooter related not the gun. Buy it, you will not be sorry.

I have the Glock 27 and the MK9.
The 27 is a fantastic gun, but its a belt gun. You mentioned you are looking for a "pocket-gun". Unless you are talking about coat pockets the Kahr is a much choice. The Glock is just too thick to conceal well. I know, some do. Big guy with big baggy pleated slacks I'm sure it works. If you are not so big or wear jeans you will have better luck with the Kahr. Price is about the same. Loaded weight is about the same. Shootability is about the same. My dream is a single stack glock 27.

Thanks for the comments. Bullwinkle, the price difference was about $100 between the Kahr and the Glock, and it weighed a lot more than the Glock. It's obviously well made, but I think the G26 would be easier to carry. Maybe I'll trade my 96 inox for a fullsize Kahr, too :).

I also have a 26 and I love it. I am a small person,5foot 5 and 150 pounds and I can wear it in a belly band high on my left side under my arm and it dissapears.I wear western shirts with the snaps and leave the top two open and can get it out and put two in the target in less than 5 seconds

The Glock 26 is a great sub-compact 9mm. I have one and carry it most of the time. It is just as accurate as the G17, IMHO. I carry it in a Sidearmor IWB holster, at this is the most comfortable setup I have ever used! Sidearmor makes great holsters. Check them out at

Cruserman,

The glock is lighter....when empty. Loaded there is negligable difference. Five rounds of 9mm make up the difference. FWIW I find the single stack Kahr mags alot easier to carry as well.

LIke you I live in hot country. I bought the 27 first and carried it for about a year. The Glock spent too much time in off body carry or a fanny pack. I did not like this arrangement. The MK9 spends 95% of its time in Pants pocket, occasionally belt, boot, or coat pocket.

The guns look and feal very similar in the gun store but I've found that the Kahr is alot easier to live with day in and day out.

Dont take this as a Knock on the Glock. If I could only keep one gun in the safe the 27 would be it.

Ok, that makes more sense. I'm no Glock person by any means, but the G26 seems like it would be good. It IS a wide gun.

thanks again.

G26 is a nice compact firearm. Excellent for conceal carry.

The 26 is a great little gun. I used to carry mine daily in a M/D Enterprises BS-2 OWB holster until I moved up(some may argue the point) to .45 and a Glock 30. If you thing the 26 is wide try strapping on a 30 :) Seriously, I'm avg build 5'10 185 or so and I wear the 30 in a Galco Concealable with zero concealment problems....granted it is winter here in MA so maybe I'll be singing a different tune come the warm weather. If the G36 isn't out by then, my 26 will be back on side during fishing season :)

You can sometimes find a used like new 26 for short money due to the fact that the Glock trigger isnt to everyones taste. They maybe shoot it a few times and decide that it isnt for them. Just takes a little patience and practice.

Get the 26 if you want an awesome conceable 9mm

I don't understand how all you guys carry the Glock 26 or 27 in pockets. I bought the 27 to carry in my pocket but found it was just too thick. Maybe I'm parnoid, but I thought it looked obvious that I had a gun in my pocket. I do admit that it shoots great.
