I'm looking for fellow clay shooters in Jacksonville, FL.

I would like to arrange the first TFL sporting clays get together at WW Sporting Clays right outside J-ville.

I need to see how many would be interested so I can begin to make arrangements and look for a date.

NE FL Clays

Where's the range you're talking about?

Is it worth the trip up from Alachua County?

Gator Skeet and Trap down here in Gainesville is pretty nice. There's an ATA Tourney coming up April 13th.

I believe it is. It was featured in Sporting Clays magazine a few months ago. It has a short, long, skeet, and FITASC course. Exceptionally friendly people, and some of the best prices I have seen anywhere.

I just don't know if I'd be welcome in "Gator Country" as I am a staunch supporter of AUBURN UNIVERSITY!

War Eagle?

You mean Auburn finally settled on ONE mascot?

I have nothing against you just because you're an Auburn fan, Spanky. We all have a cross to bear.

How do you get to that range of yours? I'm ready for a change. To many ATA and NSSA SNOBS around this range lately.

I went to the range yesterday and waited patiently for an hour only to be told that there would be no open shooting because (no BS) the skeet chairman 'had a bad match and was in a bad mood.'

The way some of these competitive shooters priss around is really disconcerting. How do they expect their sport to survive beyond them if they don't cultivate beginners?

Hey, I'm in J'ville and am always looking to meet other shooters. I don't shoot clays, but like shooting everything else.

Plus, being in the "biz" I can get ammo and such for cheep. Always a plus. Any shooters want to get together for gear, knives, and guns?

Heck, my store is even a pretty good meeting place - OneStopKnifeShop.com off Shad. Big backyard and fridge for beer & such... just need a grill.

From Gatorville take 75 north to I-10. Go towards Jacksonville. Get off at Whitehouse exit. Go North to US 90. Turn left go approximately 4 miles, past International paper sawmill on left. You will turn right on a road I unfortunately right now can't remember the name of. But it is before the Spanish mission. Follow that road out approximately 5 miles, it will "S" and on the right will be WW Sporting clays. Follow the dirt roads through the plantation, it will be at the end on the right. Take some bug spray, prepare to have conversation with the old-timers who sit on the front porch and reminisce about the good ole days. Have some coffee and then head out to an enjoyable days shooting. Polish up all your stories as the people will be very receptive to you. Say hello to the Captain, and feel privelaged if he invites you to shoot with him. It is truely and honor as he is a great man and an outstanding patriot. Pet the dogs and have a good time. Email me and we can maybe set up a time to shoot it together.

Warm up with a round of skeet. Everyone does.

Truely a wonderfull place that has got "friendly" done right.

p.s. We have only one mascot, the tiger. Our battle cry is War Eagle. I will educate you.:D

The University of Auburn was begun as an agricultural and veterinary institute. An injured American Eagle was brought to the University. Although its life was saved, it was not able to fly ever again. The students and the town could not bare the thought of putting it in a cage, so the current aviary was built to provide a home for the Eagle. He was affectionately named "TIGER". Many legends abound about the begginings of "WAR EAGLE" but the most likely is that the vet students used to take him to pep rally's. This excited the student body who began chanting "WAR EAGLE" before football games.

Auburn is now one of the best recognized surgical and rehab facilities for endangered flying species in America. Although they are on "TIGER VII" he stands as a symbol of the power and determination of these United States.

If you think back to the opening ceremonies of the recent Olympic games, if you watched, you saw "TIGER VII" circle the Olympic Stadium while the National Anthem was playing.

again...

I'm Up here in Brunswick: Is this Clay Range down (up?) near Folkston GA or in GA at all? Have an interest. I don't do Clays very well, but love to shoot it and skeet.

DOC,

Actually taking 75 north to 10 is like going around your, well it's a long way out of the way.

From Gainesville: North on Waldo road to Waldo. Watch out for Smith's troops in town though! Get on 301 and go north through Starke and Lawtey. Again mind your speed!

Get on 10 from 301. Another route would be to go 121 through Lacrosse and Worthington, Lake Butler then Macclenny.

Apples and Oranges, but 301 is quicker and puts you closer.

And oh yeah, GO GATORS!
