Looking for a Ruger 357 GP-100 3"

Years ago I owned a Ruger GP100 3". I bought a set of custom made wood grips for it, and it was the most beautiful, best shooting .357 I've ever owned. It was so long ago I almost remember paying around $350.00 for it. About 5 years ago when I sold my collection and someone else has the pleasure of owning it.

I've looked around at a couple of auctions, but I've found the GP's to be kinda scarce. Any info concerning the whereabouts of these little gems would be appreciated.

Lots of people are on the hunt for the 3" GP. Seems like Ruger should be turning them out to meet demand but maybe they're trying to boost the price by limiting supply. If you find one, it will likely be in the $600 range, including tax.

I have a 3 inch SS GP100

I'd sell it, but I don't know current value. It was a prison guard gun, and has been converted to Double Action only. It shoots great. Fixed sights, orginal wood/rubber stocks. It shoots point of impact point of aim at 25 yards with 158 grain +P ammo.

Interestingly, and maybe paradoxically, I've seen more of the Talo variation (with the Wiley Clapp inspired Novak wide-notch "Lo-Mount rear and green fiber optic strand front sights; the matte s/s finish and the distinctive grip featuring Altamont "Diamondwood inserts) 3" barrel length Ruger GP 100s on the shelves of my local gunstores than I have the standard (stock) 3" barreled barreled Ruger GP 100s. My lgs is selling the GP 100 with the 4" long barrel and adjustable sights (a configuration that I personally prefer) for $579.99. The Talo variation is priced at $629.99.
I haven't seen a standard, 3" long barrel GP 100 for sale in my neighborhood for a long time.

I have seen the 3inch SP101
Thank you, but... A trigger from hell! The last time I fired the 101 at the local shooting range, the air was so filled with profanity several folks near me fainted. One was a Navy Seal, and the other a retired Gunny Sgt. The only one standing from the assualt was a 85 year old granny, who pointed her Sp101 at me, and shouted, that I had missed a few words...:D

There are at least 6 of them on gunbroker.com right now. easy to sign up and complete a transaction through a local ffl. I would not wait too long.

Here are 9 of them. Bud's has none at the moment. I have word from Newport,NH that there will not be another 3" GP100 production run until September at the earliest. So if you want one soon, check out the links I provided. I got mine, a 2011 and it is a real sweet piece.

Ruger GP-100 custom; Gemini Customs...

If you have the time & $$$, a slick custom option is Gemini Customs 3" GP100 .357magnum. See www.Geminicustoms.com .
It's not cheap but the Gemini wizards start with a 6" GP100 then convert it into a smooth 6 shooter with a 3" barrel.
You can add Jack Weigland Hybraporting & DA only action work too, ;).

I see no need in doing any alterations to the GP100, along with countless others. It's just something for those with lot's of expendable income to play with for coolness factor. It certainly won't make you a better shooter!:p
