Was thinking that I need to add a nice shotgun to my HD lineup. As it stands now all I have are handguns. The Remington 870 Home Defense model looks nice, anyone have this one or any recommendation?

Price wise I’d like to keep it say under $500.00.

The Benelli Nova Tactical Pump is $305 for the rifle sight version $340 for the ghost ring. Those are the msrp prices on the Benelli site.

Check the used rack for your deals. It doesn't have to be a looker, just a worker.

This Winchester 1200 was $66.75 out the door. Looks like hell, but it had no wear to the action.

This Mossberg 500 was complete, but totally disassembled when I bought it for $25.

Almost any 12 gauge pump will do, all, if reliable are better than a handgun. Here is a link discussing the differences between the Mossy and Remmy.

Boomhauer, . . . I bought my son an 870 several years ago for Christmas, just like he begged me to do.

There was a used Beretta police automatic I could have gotten for him for just a hundred dollars more, . . . he nixed that idea, . . . wanted the 870.

I went back and got the Beretta for my HD shotgun. It is an automatic, . . . holds seven rounds, . . . either 2 3/4 or 3 in will work in it.

Would you care to guess which shotgun he begs me to use when he goes rabbit hunting in the brush?????

Seriously, I had a bad experience one time with a slide action shotgun, and I pretty well decided that would never happen again as long as I could afford an auto. I bought it used from a dealer I trusted, . . . never been sorry.

May God bless,
Dwight

boomhauer-

i agree with what nso w/sig was saying. if you are buying it primarly for home defense then the 870 with the folding stock and pistol grip is a great choice because of the fact that it makes the gun that much shorter and more manuverable when navigating through your house. i picked one up for $349.
