Looking for a lever action

Im looking for a lever action, preferably a 357. I would get a new Marlin
1894c, but have heard horror stories of what Remington is doing with the new "Marlins". Currently have a Marlin 336w in 30-30 that is a dream to shoot (pre-Remington). New Winchester's are really expensive and Rossi's seem to be of poor quality. Any Suggestions? Have thought about Henry, but can't make up my mind. Doesn't have to be a 357, so I'm open to any suggestions. Looking for a gun to hunt, target shoot....an all purpose rifle.

I was looking for a new 1894c in .357 but had to settle for used one that is in good condition and works well. If you can find a used Marlin 1894c in good condition, you won't go wrong.

I've owned/shot/hunted with a Braztech/Rossi Model 92 in .357 for the last three years w/o issue - certainly no quality beef, either.

The rifle's been accurate & reliable, although just not highly-polished/blingy - just as a using gun should be.

I made a plug to replace the lawyer/bolt-top safety, and mounter a Williams FP-94AE receiver sight atop the receiver side rails at the rear.

It worked well enough to justify selling off it's twin brother in .45 Colt.

If a scope's needed, though, go with a Marlin 1894 unless a Scout Scope setup appeals to you.

I own a henry 44 bigboy. I LOVE this rifle. Some people cherish henry and others don't seem to like them as much(an example can be hunters because these firearms are heavier than marlins). It helps with the recoil(THERE IS NO RECOIL), but my main thing is I have tremendous accuracy w/my bigboy. I carried around a whole lot heavier firearms in my army days(guys tend to respect you when your willing to 'take one for the team' in this way + it's a good workout), so a few extra pounds on a henry aint gonna cause me problems.

You can buy the rifle in a 22, 45 colt, 357, etc. I recommend the 44 instead of the 357. Bare in mind: I am 357 all the way with my handguns.

I do Cowboy Shooting. I shoot a lever action a lot and watch others shoot their lever actions. The .357 is a good shooting round and out to 100 yards is good for smaller WT Deer. (My Wife, my Son and my Daughter all killed their first Deer with one). I've used Winchester '94s, Marlins and Uberti '73s. I really like the Uberti '73. It's plenty strong enough for any revolver round it's chambered in. It is fairly easy to work on and clean. It is very fast. You will pay more for one but to me it's well worth it. My current gun is a Cimarron; it both looks and shoots great.
My 2nd choice based on shooting and watching others shoot would be the Marlin Cowboy. A lighter gun and a good shooter.

I like my rossi .357. It is adequately acurate, the fit and finish are good enough for me, it has pretty nice south american wood of some sort, and it was dirt cheap. I bought it for fun, but I can still hit plates offhand at about 100 yards with it with jacketed loads. It is my go to gun for home/neighbor defense. I keep basically any of my hollow point loads ranging from +p 38 up to .357 158s. It will never fail as a defensive weapon, and, it could stop any missouri critter in a pinch. I mainly started keeping it on hand after a great dane mauled one of my neighbors.
