Looking for a Flashlight. Recommend one?

I'm looking to buy a flashlight to replace my 12 yr old trusty Maglite. I want to leave the MagLite in the house and carry the new one, so small is good (4-6"). SureFire is suppose to make a good flashlight, any experience with them? Any other recommendations? I'd like to be in the $50-70 range. Thanks.

I own about 10 Surefire G2's. I keep them around the house and in the vehicles. They are bright, light weight, and at $35 a piece you can't beat them. Plus Surefire has a really good warrenty if something should fail on them. I had one brake here in Iraq and Surefire sent me a new one free of charge.

I'm a big fan of the Surefire 6P Defender model I carry it everywhere I travel to. I also have a Streamlight Stinger that I have carried since 1998. It has yet to go through its first bulb, but I have replaced the battery twice.

Good luck.

I never tried a Surefire but someone gave me a Coast lenser (I think) and it is really nice.
I think you can gettem at Lowes.
If I had a choice Id probably get a surefire thow

Surefire G2 or Executive Defender. I own both and they are unbeatable in my eyes. Buy you a G2 or 2 and keep one by the nightstand and one in the car. Keep the defender on you as a carry flashlight.

Streamlight Stinger series, hands down. Warranty is impeccible. Tough. Simple. Several models and base materials to choose from. Plus, they're bright as heck!

I used to be a Maglite fan.

Now I carry an Executive Defender by Surefire and don't regret it one bit. I'll probably pick up a G2 next week or so. I've had the E2E for about 3 years.

Biker :)

Surefire is the best, safest bet. Streamlight makes several nice lights, but their incans have a weak bulb attachment.

IMO, the up and comer in the light game is Pentagon. I have an X2HA, and feel it is the equal, if not superior, to the Surefires of the same size.

The surefire 6P is INCREDIBLE.... it is honestly almost blinding. It is also VERY waterproof. I take it duck hunting and have completely submerged it several times.

Very, Very Good light.

I carry a Fenix L1T anytime I have my pants on. About 40 lumens in high output mode from a single AA battery and around 10 hours of runtime in low output mode from a 2500mah NiMH rechargeable or an Energizer Lithium. That's as bright as a standard 3-cell Maglite flashlight in a package that you can conceal in your fist.

By the front door there's a Black Bear Search & Rescue. Just over 850 lumens (no, not a typo--eight hundred and fifty lumens) of light output and almost 70 minutes of runtime on rechargeable batteries. Externally it's identical to a 4 D-cell Maglite but inside there's been some considerable magic worked by Black Bear.

It's currently been 56 days since the last time I charged the batteries in it and they're still showing a 60% charge (about 40 minutes of runtime). There's also a spare set of rechargeables in the fridge. I charged them at the same time as the set in the flashlight and they're still showing 100% charge on my battery tester.

By the back door there's a Black Bear, Bear Cub. It runs on two internally protected lithium rechargeables. Externally it looks like a 2 C-cell Maglite but puts out 220 lumens for 90 minutes of runtime. And the lithium rechargeables mean that it has a much longer shelf life than most rechargeable lights.

Whatever you choose don't buy from a company called BoTach, they have ripped me off and a few others. They have a very bad reputation, what's funny is they know they do and don't cre about changing it!!

I've also picked up a few of the G2's, and you just can't beat them for the price. If I was going to go buy one today for defensive carry, then I'm also a big fan of the G2Z which is still a little cheaper (like the price of a 6P) but has the rubber ring around the body for use with a handgun.
