While I'm a BIG fan of FO sights for hunting, having used them on all my rifles since the sights were first introduced - they are the last sight I'd recommend for target-shooting/paper-punching, as the FO bead is hard to see in bright light and/or at a distant target, going fuzzy around the edges - what's contra-indicated for accurate bullshots.
The best front sight for target shooting, bar a globe/peep front, is a prominent, plain black square blade that's easy to see against the white/light target paper.
The sights are held at the bottom of the bullseye, with the rifle zeroed to throw the boolits half the diameter of the bull higher, aka center-X - the classic six-o'clock hold.
