Looking for a .44 mag Revolver

I am currently in the market for my first 44 mag revolver. But the thing is, I want it to compliment the Henry Big Boy 44 (brass frame, octagon barrel) lever action rifle I just bought.
Any suggestions out there?
I already have a 44 cap and ball, would like a cartridge pistol with a octagon barrel and brass frame if one is made.

If you want a single action revolver, I would recommend a Ruger Super BlackHawk. They have adjustable sights, better for a "first" revolver. They are easier to shoot well than a fixed sight revolver, and sights can be adjusted for different loads. I recommend beginning to shoot with .44 specials, as magnums can be difficult to control for a new shooter (or an old , beat one like me.)

The Super BlackHawk would also be your best choice because many are available used at a reasonable price, their large size makes them more comfortable to shoot. They are great hunting snd shooting revolvers.

I don't know of anyone making an octagon barrel cartridge revolver, and you would not want a brass frame .44 magnum.
Good luck, I hope you enjoy your new guns. Let us know what you got.

I understand your wish to match but echo others' thoughts here on a brass-framed .44M. When it comes particularly to this round, stick with functionality (top/modern mettalurgy and robust construction, etc., such as the Ruger boasts). Just get the Super Blackhawk or Vaquero, which is basically a fixed sight SBH--if you want a little closer to "time period" look but still with all of the SBH's features (ok, minus sights)..and enjoy a different kind of companionship for your new Big Boy. One that works! :)

Thanks folks, all my looking so far had me giving up on the brass frame idea, but I figured it couldn't hurt to ask.
As for the Ruger Blackhawk, I already have one in .357M and really enjoy it. I have not taken a deer with it yet, hope to cross that off the list this season. (And yes, I do have a .357 lever action, Winchester though)
That is probably the way I will wind up going.
Thanks Again for your info,
Will

The brass frame idea got beaten down quickly enough.

But if you still want the octagon barrel, the only ways I know of getting one is through Freedom Arms, or a custom maker like Hamilton Bowen. Either way, you'll get a gorgeous gun, but you'll pay for it.

To properly compliment your Henry, i would go with a good single action. The Ruger SuperBlackhawk series is probably the best single action 44 magnum out there today....very strong, very accurate and will take any beating that you could ever dish out to it. They are reasonably priced too and you can usually find used ones in the 300-350 dollar range...new ones being a little over 400.
