Looking at a NEW Maverick

I'm looking at purchasing the Maverick 88 in either the 18.5 inch or 20 inch barrel. I'm looking for the best price. Went to a Houston Gun Show this past weekend and there were NO deals on shotguns. Any suggestions on the 18.5 or 20 inch barrels, or where to find both? This will mostly be for home defense and some fun shooting. THANKS
 
First thing to do, if it were me, go to walmart and PRICE it... then go online to Bud's and PRICE it... Then go to your favorite Mom & Pop's gun store and ask them how close they can get to the cheap places... they will likely be within a few bucks and you will have a place to go with questions or needs.

as for which maverick... they put a shorter barrel and add near a hunert more bucks to the price... Basically a Maverick with a 28 inch AND 18 inch is like 20 bucks more than a "Riot Gun" quite often.

I'd much rather you buy your gun from a LGS; but, Able's has both for $225 and Buds has 31023 (18-1/2") for $212 and 31046 (20") for $218. My Walmart doesn't do guns.

I guess that would depend on your definition of a "deal" - that can mean quite different things to different folks. A Maverick is about as cheap as you can get and still have something reasonably safe and functioning. As mentioned, they go for about 200-250........what would be a better deal than that?
 
Go to Walmart and get the field model (28'' barrel) for $177 then go buy a 18.5'' defence barrel for $80-ish.

You'll have $250-$260 in the gun and have 2 barrels. HD--hunting---one gun will do pretty much anything you want to.
 
wait till black friday, I am sure they will have some deals on guns. I know the heritage rough rider drops to $99 for black friday every year and is around the same normal price as the maverick.
 
OK, so I went today and purchased the Maverick 88, 12 ga, 18.5 inch barrel, $189.00 + tax at Academy. Also picked up some bird shot and 00 Buck. Can't wait to get this thing out and shoot it. Will try to follow-up with pics and a range report......:D
