looking 4 right shotgun

I am looking for a good shotgun to get started into upland and small game and I do not want to drop a ton of money for a gun when I am just getting started.

Get yourself either a 12 or 20 gauge Remington 870 Express with a 26" barrel. Mechanically the same as the more expensive Wingmaster, it'll last a lifetime with care for about $250 - $300.

Mossberg 835 Ultimag with light ported 26" barrel, awesome for target, turkey, fowel. Less than $300

I agree with the Mossberg 835. I've hunted all types of wings with it, and I never felt like crying because it got dirty or scratched. I've submerged mine in swamp muck (long story, yes it was unloaded, and I did it intentionally), had it in the rain, snow, etc. Some will call it a rattler, but I've stalked many, many turkeys to within 40 yds and got my bird.

I have an SPS Super Magnum I want to sell for $400, originally close to $550.00. It is woodlandcamo and I have had it for 1 1/2 years. It will come with all original equipment. 3 screw in chokes, choke wrench, 2 keys for lock, sling, original box and paperwork. I am also including a HiViz sight set and a 12 guage cleaning kit. I've put less than 100 rds through it. Mostly 2 3/4" shells although it takes up to 3 1/2. I don't bird hunt and need the money to pay for CHL class and license. Also help my GLOCK 17 or 19 fund grow.

I say go with the 870, get the combo right away with the slug barrel for deer. I would recommend going to a store and checking out the mossberg's vs the remington. In my opinion the mossberg will give you a few more features but I believe the 870 is built a bit better. Grab a mossberg by the forearm and you can feel the slide wiggle (at least on the 535's I believe). The 870 won't have that. Like I said, just my opinion. Both are good guns.

I have a Rem 870 Mag, Mossberg 500, 535 and 835. All four guns are great pieces of equipment, but I like the saftey location on the Mossbergs over the Remington.

upland shotgun

Look for a shotgun that has readily available interchangable barrels.
Like Mossberg, Remington, Winchester.
Would recommend a pump with large magazine capacity. can always insert a plug when foul hunting.

Should be chambered for at least 3 inch shells if you plan on turkey or goose.
2 3/4 fine if used on rabbit, quail, dove, and other upland game.

Screw in choke capability is nice for varying game and targets

If you plan on heavy sporting clay or trap and skeet a well built higher quality
( above express) i.e 870 wingmaster vs. express.

I find it fun to shoot bird with double barrels SxS or O&U, my favorite pump would be my Rem Model 10. Damn good hunting gun.
