Looked at some ccw candidates today

I thought I would like the Ruger LCR, since I think so highly of my P95, but I was WRONG. It looked and felt like a $639 toy (with CT grips). I'm probably spoiled from shooting my indestructible 686 today and wrong about the LCR, but can't imagine it being a long lasting gun that I will be happy about 5 years from now if I use it enough to get really comfortable that I can hit what I aim at. I *did* like the LCR's trigger, which felt easier to control than the used S&W 642 ($435) that was in the same case. However, everything else about the Smith bespoke quality, although I would probably exchange the wood grips for something rubber from Hogue if they exist.

I also really liked the feel of a Model 60 S&W in my hand, reminded me of a junior version of my 686.

What really jumped out at me today was the Kahr CW9, it just felt great in my hand, leaps and bounds above Kel-Tec quality-wise and still very easily concealed. The DA trigger is fairly long but medium-light in terms of effort, it wouldn't give me much concern about the chance of a ND.

Any thoughts?

The LCR is "not" a range gun...It is a gun that you carry for protection and to be concealed easily. And for it not being around in 5 years....Why not.It is a well made pistol for what its for.

As far as S&W goes....you cant go wrong there. As for the kahr and kel-tec
don't know a thing about them.

Kahr CW9 is a great gun. If you liked it, go for for it.

However, I would like to add that if you are looking for an auto that you can easily conceal and get good firepower from, check out the Walther PPS. You can find the for around the $600 mark, and I like them more than Kahr's myself. In fact, it is one of my favorite guns ever. I wouldn't part with mine for the world.

Don't rule out the Walther PPS before checking out how thin and light it is. Great everyday carry gun. I love mine.

The PPS is a much better gun than the CW9 is,but compare it to a gun like the PM9 which cost as much as a PPS and its a even fight.

If i had to decide between a PPS and a PM9 id have to flip a quarter.
None the less the CW9 is about the best smallish ccw 9mm in its price range of around $425

You can find in a similier size as the CW9 is the Taurus Millennium series in 9mm .40 and .45 wich are very good guns, but these are SA/DA

Walther PPS or Taurus PT709

I would say get the Walther PPS if you have the money. I wanted that gun bad but could not afford it right now because bonuses @ work were eliminated in this dismal economy. I am saving my pennies for the PPS, but meanwhile I bought a Taurus PT709 slim with some extra money I had been saving that works great. I will shoot that for now and trade it in toward the PPS later.

Go with a S&W 642 or 442. Or the Walther PPS. Great carry guns. I like my LCP, but any of the above would be a nice upgrade when I carry heavier. I love my 642.

I'd go with the Kahr. In fact I think so much of it... I own one. I didnt like the mag. release on the Walther. However my hands dont fit the kahr as well as I thought I would. The Kahr has a bump at the bottom of the trigger guard. some people with man-hands find it uncomfortable.

What is that bump anyway?... why is it there?... can it be removed?

If you liked the CW9, take a look at the PM9. :)
Smaller than a j-frame, seven rounds (6+1 in the flush fit mag) and a quick reload.
