apologies for the large pic size --- I'm still learning new fangled technology.

In any event - to celebrate my birthday - I picked up a rifle.

Details --- 1964 Winchester Model 70 in .30-06
Newer Burris Fullview II 3-9x40 scope, but still has original iron sights, too.
Uncle Mike's leather sling if it matters.

One and only complaint --- the bolt is really heavy feeling. It's not warped, and moves smoothly through the action --- but it's definitely a little on the stiff side (reading the Winchester history books, looks like a normal complaint).

Gun shop says it hasn't been fired for awhile. Bore's pretty clean, though.

Great rifle

I own a slightly younger model 70 in .243. You may discover that your Winchester aims naturally, comes up to and fits the shoulder as if it were a custom fit, and shoots accurately.

A better birthday gift would be another Winchester Model 70.
 
Happy Birthday and Congrats!!!!!

You have a fine rifle. I have one with a much later birthday (94-95) but really enjoy it. Make sure the bolt is lubed properly and it will loosen up even though the lugs lock up really tightly.
