Longshot in .40 S&W

I'm looking for max velocity with 155 XTP and 155 STHP bullets in .40 SW&W for a Glock 22 with Bar-Sto custom barrel. Always used HS-6 in my 9MMs and 38s, but Hodgdon shows very much higher velocity with longshot. (1300FPS).

Does anyone here have personal experience with Longshot in the .40?

Very easy to get chronographed velocities approaching 1300 fps with 155 gr. bullets, using Longshot in the .40 S&W. However, be aware that any change in components is likely to change results, sometimes dramatically. Brass used, primers, choice of bullets, lot # of power you're using, gun its being shot from, etc. You will have to start low and work up, as you always should, only this time its more critical than most. And never load a top end load more than once on any given piece of brass. If I find the fired brass from my top end loads, they go into the 'target load' can. Having said all that, its my favorite top end load for 135 gr. Noslers, and 155 gr. jacketed hollow points.

I was curious if Hodgdon was perhaps a little "optimistic:)" on their velocity.
Also looking for experience since some powders have a tendency to "spike' pressures at a certain level with an increase of .1 or .2 grains.

If I can find a can of Longshot, I'll dig out the chronograph and give it a try.:)

If I can SAFELY get to 1300, I'll drop it to ~1250-1275 for a little margin of safety and call it good!:D
 
I use Longshot for 3 different 40's with bullets from 150gr.-180gr. All XTP, or GoldDot.

Having said that I also use BlueDot, Unique, Power Pistol, TrueBlue.

Have found with the 40 that I don't like max velocities out of any of my guns, or my friends guns...
 
Longshot seems to work ideal with the heavier 180gr bullets in my Glock G35. I saw less consistency with 165's and Longshot. I don't have the specific charge in front of me , but I do know that my G35 seems to like a more mild velocity right around 925 fps. I don't load for the sole purpose of max velocities so YMMV..
