About the 72 year old guy who shot the LEO over a seatbelt violation -

I was reading another post where you said the old guy had used a 30.06 to kill the LEO. Is this true? All the media reports I've seen posted here at TFL said he used an "assault rifle". What exactly was used?

If this is the case, here comes the "hunting rifles should be banned - they're assault rifles too" cry from the antis.

I think any military rifle chanbered for 30/06 would be a main battle rifle.

Assult rifle would be select fire weapon using cartridge of intermediate power.
