Long Dry Spell for a Bit...

...but I finally picked up a deal.

Old Taurus PT92, blued, for $150 from a buddy. Great shape, older Pachamayrs on it - and I already own one, so I don't have all the ancillary costs (holster, ammo, defense ammo, spare mags, all that jazz).

Finally... I got a bargain. I was beginning to think I'd never a get another gun, just for the price of it all. It's in nice shape, and it has fixed sights, which I prefer to my PT99AF's adjustables. I can't wait to see how it shoots, but it's going to be a great range toy - affordable caliber, DA/SA, pre-ban mags...I'm just glad to have finally gotten a good buy on something I can actually use.

I love when that happens! As a small aside... the guy who I bought it from got it from an old co-worker, in 1993 (I was eight at that time.) He gave me a copy of his transfer sheet...His transfer fee: Seven dollars.

Crazy, huh? Mine ran me forty plus Uncle Sam's cut.

So on a private party sale you have to pay this "trasfer fee"? To whom? An FFL? And sales tax? On a private party sale from your co-worker?

In Pennsylvania, they have to transfer handguns at least through an FFL, even a private sale. Kinda makes our laws here look a lot better, doesn't it?

nice deal! I haven't had a major score in a LONG time :\

last score: $50 for a 22/45 mkii

maybe that's why it's been so long ( i tried to pay him more, he wasn't having it..... this was back in 2001!)

Wow, I had no idea that you had to go thru an FFL and pay for the privilege on a private party sale. I have done many , many gun deals in a Gander Mountain,WalMart or Waffle House () parking lot with cash and a handshake....I guess I just figured that was the way it is all over.

Dang...even here in IL, which I thought was the WORST gun laws in the country, I can do a FTF deal with cash, handshake, FOID exchange and a write up of said deal!

Let me scratch Philly off my list of places to flee to after grad school...

I dunno, defjohn...After I pay that pesky transfer fee, I can turn around and pack that sucker all over the city in my state...what about you? ;)
