Lock time?

What hammer spring (etc) should I look for in order to speed the lock time up on my Stainless Ruger Vaquero?
The gun is all stock and I try to hold the sight picture for 2 1/2 to 3 seconds after I start the squeeze on the trigger. Just wanna keep things still as possible?
I have herd of people putting 19# springs on Blackhawks to help cure this. I NEVER plan on fanning so the added thumb pressure won't bother me!
ANy other ideas?
 
I have another idea, but it may not be what you are looking for. Any speed-up in lock time will be measured in micro-seconds. I don't see this as anything you will even notice.
Were I you, I would invest the money in ammo, and get to where you can shoot the gun.
Over the years, I've tried all the tricks and shortcuts, installed all the bells and whistles, and spent a small fortune on modifications. I have learned that nothing works as well as practice. Nothing tops dry firing, and range time.
Just my opinion.
 
The advantage gained in shortened lock time is offset by the addition of movment from the added impact of the hammer falling.

As Yankee Doodle said, practice.

2 1/2 ~3 seconds? What are you waiting for?

Yankee Doodle is spot on. I shot competition for many, many years (very successfully I might ad) and I can tell you that lock time is a non issue with your revolver.
 
Increasing lock time on a Ruger Vaquero or any other single action is not really in the cards.
The basic design uses a large, heavy hammer with a long hammer drop.

To have a faster lock time would require extensively lightening the hammer and even figuring out some method of converting it to a "short action" with a shorter hammer fall.

In most single actions, none of this is really practical. A heavy hammer and a long drop is inherent in the design.
