Hehe... Back in the 70's, the San Francisco Gun Exchange (may it rest in peace) ran an ad listing shotguns for sale. The tag line on the ad?
Recommended by the mayor of San Francisco for home defense.
The mayor in SF at that time? Our beloathed DiFi.
Handguns were illegal in SF at the time (later overturned) and in an attempt to mollify the outraged minority, she declared that shotguns were a better choice.
One of the better gun shop sales Was a Sara Brady birthday sale. Back in 93 as I recall. They sold SKSs at specail discount. They had a birthday card for everyone who bought a gun could sign "first name only" that they would send to her. Most listed what type of gun and how much ammo they bought to celebrate her birthday.
