Loading gate jaming Marlin 30/30

Need some help. My Marlin 30/30 has a loose loading gate. It feels like the spring or whatever pushed it out has broke or just fell out. Now when I work the action, it slides and wedges the action open. I had to take the lever off and the bolt out to unload it so any info would be helpful. Thanks.

Sheeptex, The loading gate on yout Marlin is held on by a screw. If the loading gate has not fallen into the action I would suspect that the screw is loose. Otherwise the screw has fallen out or the loading gate is broken. The rifle will have to be taken apart to fix the problem.
