Loading for .56 cal Renegade
I have a .56 T/C Renegade smoothbore, which I've been using with .54 balls and a .15 patch. A friend gave me an electric lead "smelter" and some lead ingots, and I'd like to start making my own lead balls for muzzleloading.I'm not sure if this lead is pure or not. If there is any alloy in it, could I still use it in my smoothbore w/o any problems? I'd like to get a mould for .54 balls and use it if this would be safe, and or, not cause any damage to my gun. Any ideas? Thanks.

Mmmm, how I love the smell of black powder in the morning!

If ya can dent it easily with the thumb nail it`s probably soft enuff ,5-8 bhn I consider pure .

The problem is`nt shooting em the problem is loading em , especially in a C&B revolver , ya need em soft/big enuff to cut a ring off without breaking the lever !!

The Smoke Poles will work if ya can get em beat down the barrel the Holy Black will push em back out, don`t ask :o

I cast a few for BP out of stik-on wheel weights & have little problems.
