LOADING A WINCHESTER 06 RIFLE HELP

I don't have a manual and don't know how to load the bullets. Do you know how many shells it takes. Help or manual would be great. Thanks Ron

The 06 Winchester is a 22 rim fire pump action
There is a tubular magazine under the barrel. At the end is a cap with a pin that goes into an L shaped slot on the otter tube.

Unlock the cap and pull it out. The inner tube can then be withdrawn.
There is a window in the tube about 2/3s up from the action shaped like a cartridge. Set cartridges into the window until you fill it up to that level. Reinsert the inner tube and re-lock it.
Lower the hammer all the way down. Now you can pump the forend and that will chamber a cartridge and cock the hammer. The rifle will fire if you press the trigger. If you do not wish to fire you can lower the hammer to the "half cock" or "safety notch".
If you carry the rifle chambered and with the hammer in the safety notch you need only cock the hammer to fire the shot. After the shot if fired you pump the forend to repeat.

Guess that is what happens when I assume too much. I'm used to the many people who shorten 30-06 down to just 06. At least it is good to know they do have model 70 owners manuals available online. Didn't know that until I started looking.

Be sure to remove pressure on the trigger when pumping the action for another shot or the sear will automatically trip and fire. The 1906 is designed for short, long and long rifle and does not care if you mix them in the tube. Collector interest is high for this little John Browning .22.

I'm thinking there was a gallery version 06 too. (only 22 short could be shot.)_If you have a 06 Ron you are indeed most fortunate. Especially if it is in good shape. Your little 06 has some collectable value just like any other Winchester product made prior to 1964. Hang tight to it Ron as its gaining more and more value every year.
