was out shooting my ar 15 today, i-8 twist it is a new rifle with about 25-30 rounds thru it, all shooting done at 100yds with a 12x scope. loaded 10 each. 26gr varget 60gr vmax, 26gr varget 55 nosler BT, 70 Berger 24gr varget. 55gr all these loads had a WSR primer, 55 vmax RL-15 rem 7 1/2 primer. all these loads shot about the same group around 1 1/4" or so, then i had some loads i loaded 12yrs ago this load is sierra 53gr hp match, 25.5gr H335 powder and a BR4 primer this load surprised me, groups under 1/2" i am curious what part of this load got its accuracy, i dont have any more H335 and not sure if its still available, and the 53gr bullet with a 1-8 twist ?? would the BR4 primer enhance the accuracy in the place of WSR primer. was hoping to get the heavier bullet to work.

Was it the same rifle?

There are too many variables to say what made your previous load better than the current one.

Welcome to TFL , you'll find a lot of good info on this forum .

I'd say the two things that "likely" did the improvements were match bullets and BR primers . Both of those will be much more consistent as a whole then the other loads .

Then there's the fact that those old loads were likely worked up and found to be the best you could find in that combination of components . What about these new loads ??? Did you work up to all those charges and found they worked best or did you do it another way ??? The answer to that question could be your over all answer .
