Llamma Range Report and a question:

I just picked up a full sized Llamma from a good friend of mine for 150 dollars plus got a case of ammo and some hi caps thrown in with the deal. It looks and handles great. I took it out yesterday for a run and function was flawless. Ammo used was 230 grain Wolf ammo, 230 grain UMC ball and WWII surplus ball. Accuracy was suprisingly decent, and no malfunctions at all. Fit and finish of this pistol is very good even though my buddy has put almost a thousand rounds through this gun.
Now my question: I am not overly knowledgeable of 1911 style guns. I do know that the Llamma "1911's" are not interchangeable with Colt parts but what other difference is there? I also am not sure of the model of this gun since there seems to be no markings to indicate a model number. It is a full size gun with a 5 inch barell.

The gun is basically a Colt-style 1911, but built to slightly different specs. Most parts will not interchange. But basic function, etc., is the same.

If you've got one that shoots well, you got a bargain. (And it'll stay a bargain until you try to sell it...)

Llamas have a reputation for poor quality in build and poor quality in metallurgy. But they've made some good guns intermixed with some real turkeys.

If you were shooting WWII ammo,i hope you cleaned the barrel by now with an ammonia-water mixture. It tends to be quite corrosive.
