Llama "something"-max .380

Shot a .380 "1911 shrunk" Llama and liked it. Internally, it seemed to be finished to better standards than Colt Pocket 9 and about on part with a Mustang. However, I also fire Colt Covt. 380 and that was a joy (perfect ergonomics, IMO). Only trouble is that it is quite heavy for its intended use.

Anyone with opinions on mini-1911 clones in .380 or even .32? Reliability, accuracy, parts availability, etc?

I bought a Llama "Colt Government .380" copy several years ago. It jammed frequently
and was quickly traded off for Colt Government .380

I never had any trouble with the Colt, but since my mother was partial to it, I gave it to her for Christmas. She still has it and shoots it every weekend.

I own two Colt Govt. .380's (one nickel and one stainless) and an FEG Walther-clone SMC-380. All these guns work great, but there is something really special about the Colt "mini-1911." They are just a joy to shoot. Very pointable. Visit

to see what aftermarket parts are available and what kind of custom work can be done. A pair of cocobolo wood grips?

You should be able to pick up a used Govt. .380 for $400 or less.

It's a "Micro" max.. Another version of the Gabilondo (something or other) venerable 380 Llama. I've got a Micro max and an early 70's 380 Llama with a vented rib, silly spanish. The Micro max is a nice gun, very hideable.. You have to slick up the older Llama 380's to get em to work right. My Micro max has all it's bearing surfaces polished.. It's 100%.

Oleg,
I've owned a Colt Mustang Pocketlite for a few years. (.380, but you knew that :)) It weighs 12.5 ounces. It was my first concealed carry pistol.
Looks just like a little 1911 without the grip safety. It has been completely reliable. I shoot Federal Hydra-Shok "PD". It's my summer gun.
I see them new at gun shows sometimes. I'd take a close look at Mustangs and Pony's before I'd choose a Llama. Llama's look nice, but I've read negative posts.
