Llama Mini-Max

Cuz

I just purchased one of these pistols, and was curious if anyone knew which 45 they cloned, the commander or the officers model?
Anyone have any experience with one?
I put 200 rounds thru it last weekend and didnt have any malfunctions. Seems to be a good shooter..any opinions?

The gun rags liked the Minimax . . the best of the Spanish made 1911 clones. Good lokking gun just remember where you can get parts if need be.

I looked at one this afternoon and was quite impressed. I read about quality concerns about Llama in general but this lil guy was impressive.

I have one. Though a little rough in places, it is a soid feeling, dependable gun. I believe it is supposed to similar to the officer's ACP. In fact, I bought a stainless colt officer's magazine for mine and it functions just fine with it. I really like this gun! I would not hesitate to use it for CCW.

I had a MiniMax for close to 2 years now - about 1900 rounds all different styles - not a one problem.
I did have to replace the slide stop/release which broke - somehow I broke the outside release part.
It's the great gun for the money.
However I just bought the Glock 30 - the best gun yet I have fired (and I tried a lot of weapons.
Good luck...

I have seen many Llama 1911's over the years. They seem to be good guns. My dad bought a G.M. back in the early eighties and it stills works fine! We had one come into the shop a few weeks ago that had major problems!! but it turns out that it wasn't the gun's fault. The owner thought it would be a good idea to change recoil springs. He put in a Colt Commander spring. His gun was a 5" G.M. The recoil cracked the frame in 3 places. He said he never noticed the difference, and that the gun functioned fine!
The Mini-max is an Officers model clone. The magazines from a Colt will fit the Llama but not the other way around. ( the LLama mags. are a little wider than the Colts) I would use only Llama mags. for carry. As I said, the quality seems to be good for the price...... and as far as parts go, You could trip and fall over the parts avaliable from a variety or sources including The Gun Parts Corp. and Jack First to name a few. Some parts will interchange with other 1911 makers, but be sure before you end up with a gun like the one I mentioned!!!

Also, you may want to search deja.com for info on Llama 1911's. I found several hundred posts regarding Llamas in general. It seems that there are some bad experiences (like with all guns) but a lot of folks also state that they are good affordable shooters. As I said in my previous post, mine is great and works like a charm.
