Llama Comanche .44mag

I've been offered a Llama Comanche .44mag for a very reasonable price...it's as NIB. Any real reason why I shouldn't buy it? I've only considered Redhawks or Model 29's up to now.

Shot a Comanche years ago. Okay, but not impressive. Probably a lot cheaper than a Ruger or S&W. But if it were me, I save the extra $200 bucks or so and get the Ruger. Especially if you plan to do any amount of .44mag shooting. Guns are tools, and the name brands are usually better than the "want - a - be" knock offs in the long run.

Years ago I knew someone who bought a Commanche III ( I think) and it was chambered in 357 Magnum. He complained that he was having trouble hitting the target. I looked at the gun and was surprised to see that the barrel was not in line with the frame and cylinder. I seriously doubt that the rear sight could have been adjusted enough to get this gun on target. I have not considered a Llama product since.

My first .44 handgun was a Llama Comanche. I picked it up for $150 from a the father of a guy I worked with. I only shot low powered ammo from it, and it was nice looking, and fun gun to shoot. But, I had always intended to get into handgun hunting and reloading, and would never try to work up a hunting load in that revolver. I traded it and a Sears double barreled 20 gauge shotgun which I had paid $100 for, on a slightly used Ruger SS Super Blackhawk .44, with a set of Ajax Staghorn grips. I've never regretted that trade, and have since taken deer and hogs with my own reloads in the SBH.
If you plan to shoot a lot, or with hot loads, I suggest you get something of higher quality. Use the Llama as a stepping stone, as I did, if you are getting a really good deal on it. If the .44 thing is just something you want to try, but are not really serious about, this gun may be right for you.
