Llama 9 mm

Saw a beautiful Llama 9 mm in a 1911 design. Blue without much wear. Dealer got it from a police auction, drug dealer confication. Anyone have any experience with a Llama, made in Spain, inported by Stoeger. The price is right. Didn't see a model name or number. Would also like to find an extra magazine. Any suggestions?

Llama=CRAP!!! Substandard metalurgy alert! Do a search on Llama on the TFL and see what I mean.

That is probably the Llama MiniMax. My best friend has one in 40S&W and if he doesn't need high capacity, it is his favorite auto to carry. Llama has been bought out by their employees and is now FireStorm.

They're junk. I actually thought they might be worth a try, despite all the negative posts. I checked one out closely. The finish is rough, with sharp edges, fiting is substandard, and trigger was atrocious.

If you're on a tight budget consider a Makarov. Inexpensive but far from cheap.

I must agree with the others here; Llama's are pathetic. If you're looking for inexpensive quality, look into Ruger or the Makarov's. MUCH better than a Llama.

I remember reading in a gun rag that older Llama revolvers are pretty good. I know someone with a Llama .380 and it's not too bad, but for a cheap semi-auto I would go with a Mak.

Thanks for the replies. I never used the search part of TFL before. What a great service. It seems like 90% dislike and 10% like the Llama. The shop owner has a shooting barrel in his shop so we can try shooting it. The Colt mag fits perfectly. Will look at the Mak as well. Appreciate all your combined experience and advise.

Ditto to what everyone says about buying a Mak over the Llama.
