Llama .45 full-size? opinions?

So I was down at the local pawn shop recently... while picking up a nice punching bag ($50!) I noticed a Llama .45 in the display case. It looks like a full size 1911, but I know nothing of Llama. I think they want $250 for it. Would this be worth taking a closer look at?

from whati have heard of Llama's they are pieces of junk. guy next to me was firing a llama 380 and it had a fdailure of one sort every round. another guy had a problem with extracting the cases on his llama 357. i have yet t o hear a good thing about any llama pistols

My Llama MiniMax has never choked on any round I've put through it in the 2 years I've had it.

There, now you have heard something good.

I have a full size Llama and I have no problems with it whatsoever. I know that alot of people say bad thgings about them but I am truly happy with mine. The fit and finish on this one is overall pretty decent and accuracy is more than combat acceptable. Had no malfunctions or failures of any kind either.

I think the problem with Llamas is that they run the range of quality from total crap to decent, but you don't know whether you got one of the crap ones until after a trip to the range.

As for the price, IIRC I've seen NIB Llama full size 1911s sell for $199 so I'm not sure $250 is a good price

EDIT Maybe I'm wrong ... there's plenty of them in that $250 range on Gunbroker

In my experience, Llama quality is, at best, iffy. They usually are fairly reliable, but they tend to be soft and some of them show a lot of hand fitting, never a good sign in a production gun. One Omni I saw had the barrel so loose and so badly fitted that it shot about 18" groups at 25 yards. Complete garbage, and it would have cost several times the retail price to fix it, and maybe it still would not have been fixable.

You can probably find them new for $300:eek: I shot the Llama's twin the Firestorm. YIKES! The sample I shot was...well, POS would be kind!

My Llama Micromax .380 is a nice lil gun.. Shoots well for the price of it.. Don't expect much for that price range, and you will be happy..

If it were free I would say take it. But for $250 I would say save your money and buy a real .45 Auto if that's what you want. You will not likely get your money back out of the LLAMA once you own it.

Do you buy guns to resell bigG?? I don't. What does it matter whether you get more for a gun?? Aren't ya buyin it to shoot?? If I get $250 worth of fun out of it, Im happy:)
