listening to NPR

I was listening to NPR this morning while getting ready for work (I usually flip between it and the local AM station since the rest of the "morning shows" are pretty inane) and they had some guy named ? Rosenthal (?) talking about Adams, Jefferson, and the meaning of the Second Amendment. Much to my suprise he discussed Adams use of the army to collect taxes and the population's and Jefferson's strong reaction to this, and Jefferson's strong support of the 2nd and that it was intended to protect the people from the government. There was no rebuttal from the announcer. All in all I found it pretty amazing to hear positive, and accurate, commentary on the Second Amendment on public radio,

Perhaps there is hope for NPR, after all. As an "afterthought" I'm forwarding the link to my "congress critters"

Wow!

NPR?

Wow!

If you haven't listened to this yet (in RealPlayer), you really must. This is incredibly good.

OTOH, Rosenthal has received criticism for his 'revisionist' views of history. See his book 'American Aurora' at Amazon.Com:

Nevertheless, it is good to hear this perspective on NPR, and I tip my hat to them for their courage in running this commentary. Perhaps there is still hope for such bastions of liberalism.
