Liking the Barami Hip-Grip on S&W J frame

Haven't shot it with these grips yet (felt kick will be harder), but I'm very happy with it as an alternative to a holster...to the point I prefer it to the few holsters I've tried. The only cc holster I could imagine liking better would be an IWB cross draw (don't have one).

I wear it (Mod 60 2.125" barrel) right at 4 o'clock; the major con with that being drawing while seated in a vehicle, but it is accessible. It's uncomfortable at 11 or 1 o'clock, and doesn't hang right for cross draw.

The main things I like about it are:

1) it fits. No bs like trimming screws or remodeling holes. You could nit-pick the fit, but you would be nit-picking. Hassle-free installation is a good thing.

2) it works! Hang it on your belt and go on about your business.

3) it's small. No extra space used, as with conventional holsters (which tend to make the thing you're trying to conceal bigger).

4) easy to grab. The small size grips don't extend beyond the frame which leave maximum finger room, and the way the gun hangs presents the grip at good angle.

5) easy to draw. No retaining devices, no holster angle to work to. A cool thing with this system is the gun can pivoted/angled/rotated any direction and still be pulled out. There's no holster angle restricting/dictating a direction for the gun to be drawn. Grab the handle and pull it out, just like that.

6) nice feel. I also like the way the hook part of the grip becomes a comfy little pad for the big joint on the trigger finger, but I haven't fired it yet.

7) almost forgot...the price! The price is nice, under $30 will put them in your mailbox.

I went with off-white grips on the stainless 60, I like it.

I carried a S&W 60 and 640 with one of these for years with a Tyer T grip adapter, also went with white as it compliments the steel. Not the best looking grips but they work and you will not find a more concealable package period. I also have the Desantis Clip Grip, which although looks better, and has finger grooves without the use of T grip, they are thinner and don't fill the hand as well. By the way if you don't already have one get a Tyler T grip adapter, makes a world of a difference.

I carried an S&W Model 940 for years using the
Hipgrip. I worked in healthcare and wore scrubs.
No body ever knew I was armed. I still carry it
sometimes.:D

Hadn't heard of it...had to go to the Google to get a picture of what was being discussed...

I've used one along with a Tyler T grip on my Colt Detective Special for yrs, my experience is much the same as the OPs. To clarify I use the right grip with the hook on it, and the original Colt left panel.

Barami Hip Grip

It's not fancy, but damn does it ever work on my 642! I have used a Barami Hip Grip off and on now for years and years...mostly on.

I have used the Barami Hip-Grips for years on both J frame and K frame S&Ws and have found them to be totally acceptable. The main feature that I did not like is the smoothness of grip surface. I made these stag grips up to overcome the Barami smoothness issue and wound up with what I consider a better looking and functioning package in the process.
