Like ammo guns

How many different ammo types do you have?

So far every auto I have gotten has been in 45acp. I think this has many advantages: I can buy ammo in bulk which is cheaper; you know what the recoil will be like so switching guns in not hard at all; range ammo is not to expensive and i can count on 45acp to knock anyone down; once I start reloading it will only have to get one die. I am sure there are more but that is just what came to mind.

I just finished selling off my guns in 40 S&W and 10mm. Now, I'm sticking primarily with:
22lr, 25acp, 38 special, 357 magnum, 9mm and 45acp.

My only 2 so far .45's, but I am just starting. I can see down the road I will want other flavors. Learned that from Tamara.

For handguns:
.45
.357 Mag/.38 Spl
.38 S&W
9mm luger
9X18 Mak
.22/.22 WRF

It's these kind of posts that make you realize how many other guns you need. :(
Gotta get me a .40 next.

So far all I have is a .45acp and a .32acp. When I go to the range though, I generally take at least a couple of my Dad's guns with me (9mm, .40S&W, .357mag.) I like feeling the differences in all of these guns and I can't wait to get a few others of my own.

Right now I'm looking into a 9mm (Sig or Walther P99, probably) and a 22lr (Ruger Mk II or Walther P22, probably) but I also want a .357mag, a 10mm, a .45LC, a .50AE, possibly a .40S&W, maybe a .380, and probably a few others I'm forgetting at the moment.

bfj2,

Recoil depends not only on the cartridge, but weight of the firearm, the action, type of ammo, etc.

Also, you really can't count on the .45 knocking anyone down. There are numerous incidents of people taking .45s in the breadbasket and living to tell about it. Not a knock on the .45, but just because you shoot someone with a .45 doesn't mean they are going to get knocked off their feet (or even fall down for that matter).

The less kinds of ammo i have to keep straight

the better. Besides, if you have a .44 mag and a .357 mag, do you really need a .41 mag? (Robt41magfan, this is a rhetorical question.)

Good idea for a thread: Calibers I can get along without:

.22 short
.40 whatever-it's-called-now
.480 Ruger
.410 gauge
.25 ACP

I could go on, but I'm sure I've offended enough of you by now.

Regards.

I met a fella that took 3- 45ACP 230Gr balls into the upper torso! He was still walking after the first 2 fell down got up took the 3rd and is still here to show you the wounds. All were torso shots but no vitals were hit. The exit wounds were about 1/2".

Let me see.......
9mm - 4 semi-auto
.45acp - 3 semi-auto
.357mag - 3 revolver

All the rest are one per caliber. Going to add a 3 inch ported .44mag to keep my 629 DX company when (if) I come back from Scotland.

Am giving serious consideration to adding a revolver and a lever gun, both chambered for .357 magnum.
