light strikes on 22 semi auto

I have and older marlin 22 cal semi auto and eventhough i have cleaned it very good i took it to the range today and it seemed the fireing pin hit the carthage but would not fire. Is this something that marlins or is it something mechanical. L am at my witts end can anyone help

oh yes it would sometimes then it would act up on several rounds and then it might fire several?

Sometimes, the firing pin needs to be reshaped on rimfires after many hundreds or thousands of rounds fired. Also check the hammer spring or striker sping, whichever applies.

thanks i have a new pin comming and two springs, what you are saying iam thinking along those lines also i will let you know how it comes out

I had this on an old Glenfield Model 60 or a Marlin Model 99 (both were close to identical inside) this Summer and it was cured by removing the bolt and giving it a soak down with carb cleaner and scrubbing the snot out of both of them with a tooth brush.

I did pay close attention to cleaning the edges of the chamber mouth, where the cartridge rim sets like Bill DeShivs said, and I think the attention to detail cleaning made all the difference.

These guys take their Marlin rimfires very seriously!
 
I took it out today and it did better with the new parts.iam going to order a hammer spring and a new recoil spring and i think that will solve the rest of my problems. Again i want to thank all of you for the suggestions.

Thanks to all who gave advice,today i recieved a new recoil spring,hammer spring,and new disconector took it to the range and it fired like a new gun.
