Light options for my guns w/o an accessory rail?

My primary go to guns for home defense are my Ruger P89 and P90.

Unfortunately, neither have an accessory rail to mount a flashlight on.

While these are "old school" fully metal guns, I love 'em and would
prefer not to buy a new polymer gun simply to add a flashlight.

On the other hand, I have seen that some of the laser guide rods
are VERY expensive. It's also not clear to me if they would allow me to
identify a target in pitch black.

Suggestions?

Use a light in your off hand. There are numerous techniques for doing this.

You want a small lightweight flashlight with a tail cap switch, simple on off operation, in the 100-150 lumen range.

Then read up on how to use them in your off hand.
